We have been visited by between 20k-30k people on both Saturday and Sunday. At least the Wiki has. The Forum has definitely increased in activity, and our IRC chat on Friday night (which started at 9 P.M. ET, went well into 2 AM ET on Saturday morning!).

Just to give you an idea of how this compares, the weekend of the Season 4 premiere (”[[He That Believeth In Me]]”) saw 20k unique visitors come to the Battlestar Wiki. Now, the mid-season finale, “[[Revelations]]”, actually saw an increase in on those numbers. The difference, according to Quantcast (which directly measures visits), being about 1 to 2 thousand additional viewers.

The chart below, which you can see for yourself here, is reproduced below since I don’t want to be embarrassed a year from now when the chart gets updated and the old data pushed aside. The peaks, as you can imagine, correlate to when the episode was aired in the USA. (As you can see, the trough was Memorial Day weekend.)

Now remember when I said “30k”? Well, having recently loaded Google Analytics code into the Wiki’s template (the gizmo that generates the look of the website, otherwise known as the “front end”), they claim we have received 30k visitors. A difference of 10k from Quantcast.

I can’t compare HTBIM to Revelations traffic here, since the Google Analytics code was loaded just a week and a half ago, but here’s the chart from the “Revelations” weekend. (The popup denotes the Saturday following “Revelations”.)

And the Wiki appears to load faster, to boot. So that’s always good!

So say we all!

Right now, I’m working on many of the wizard-like submission features which will make contributing to the site easier than contributing to Battlestar Wiki. However, my time is shrinking, given that I am now editing manager for the startup comic book company I work for. Which means that my weekend is dedicated toward reading comic books, going over artwork, etc. (More on that later.)

In the meantime, feel free to start throwing content on the website, because there’s not much there now. Don’t worry so much about neatness or breaking some rule, as the beautiful thing about the website is that editors can go through and fix things.

Also, any suggestions, comments, criticisms, and concerns can be left at the BSP.com forum.

I’m pleased to announce that this is being worked on as we speak in the form of BattlestarPegasus.com. While the public beta is not yet launched, I’d like to give people a sneak peek on the work that’s been done on it so far. The screenshots in question are for the main page (still a work in progress) and a page covering the publication of an online e-zine, The Galactican.

The PDF function seen below will also be used for scripts and other lost Battlestar Galactica treasures! Cool, eh?

Even with that in mind, we are looking for people who want to submit content to the new site when it launches Friday, January 18. So if you’re interested in submitting content for the beta launch, please contact me via e-mail or submit your content through the Battlestar Forum’s special Battlestar Pegasus board.

Since Tuesday isn’t a high-traffic day for us, and the fact that we both have this day available to us, we seized the moment. Go figure.

We’re looking for humorous contributors to make fun of the series. (The only “serious” thing about the Wiki Frakr is that we don’t mock the actors, cast, or crew or real life events. After all, it’s just a frakkin’ television show.)

If you want to know how Frakr’d up that wiki is, Galactica 1980 is seen as the greatest show on Earth. Better than Rebo and Zooty, or Barnum and Bailey.
