Last week, the blog Concurring Opinions began posting an interview with Ron Moore and David Eick, in which three professors (Daniel Solove, Deven Desai, and David Hoffman) interview them regarding various facets of the show. Discussions during these interviews included torture, government vs. military matters, the Cylons’ culture and other facets of the show.

Now, the interviews are available here in audio format. However, Battlestar Wiki has the privilege of transcribing and hosting the interview transcripts for Concurring Opinions’ interviews (with the blessings of all three professors who performed the interview), and we’re honored to have the complete first part of the three-part interview on the Wiki. You can read that here.

Complete transcriptions of parts two and three will be coming soon.

There’s been a lot of feedback regarding the design of the site. Some people want a lighter colored design that’s easier on the eyes. Well, we do have one available. (Click here to preview it.)

Now to choose different themes, you need to have a username on Battlestar Wiki. So if you don’t have a username on Battlestar Wiki, get one. It’s free. We don’t bite. Promise. :)

Once you have a username, log in with it. (The log in link is at the very top right hand corner of the page.)

Once logged in, click on “My Preferences“. Then click on the tab named “skin” in the control panel that loads. From there you have your choice of skins! Right now there are three. The lighter of the three is a skin called “bsgmonobook”, which is essentially a version of Wikipedia’s skin, with black text and with an off-white background.

Cool, eh?

For those of you that have answered the survey and offered us opinions, I will be contacting some of you with follow up questions and comments by the end of this week.

The reason I’m doing so is because some respondents were vague or unspecific as to what needed to be changed or modified.

For instance, we’ve had people that simply said that some articles were inaccurate, but didn’t note which ones were inaccurate or why they felt this to be the case. Obviously, we want to know more, and so we’re going to make sure we grill people. :)

So don’t be too surprised if you receive an e-mail from joe(AT)frakmedia(DOT)net with follow up questions. Of course, if you don’t want to answer them, I’ll understand and it’s not a problem.

There’s a proposal for a ticket system for the Battlestar Wiki (and other FrakMedia! projections) going on here.

Basically, the ticket system would allow people to submit reports on technical, clerical, and content issues pertaining to the Wiki, for those unfamiliar with the Wiki’s editing interface.

Please feel free to add your thoughts as a reaction to this blog, or at the think tank page linked above!

So say we all!

In reaction to the feedback given through the survey, we’ve moved the search bar to the side, above the navigation menus.

Users may have to execute a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 in Windows or Shift-Cmd-R in Mac) to see the changes. Also, this is only for the new “Battlestar” skin with the cut-off corners — the Monobook skins always had the search bar on the side.

Please let us know what you think about this change by replying to this blog post!

Furthermore, let us know what you think in general by filling out our survey!

So say we all!

So far, we have over 100 responses to the survey in the past few days, and this is very impressive!

I’m also quite pleased with the quality suggestions given in the responses as well. Because I am pressed for time, I won’t list all the comments we’ve received, but a summary of them (as of two days ago) is available on the Chiefs' Noticeboard.

Of course, don’t let any of this stop you from telling us what you think. Take a few moments and fill out the survey!

In response to one of the many suggestions that people have submitted through our survey, many of you wanted a better and superior search engine.

Now you have it! Instead of using the default search engine provided by the Mediawiki software, we are now using Google’s robust search engine, which provides you with a better searching experience on all the different language editions of the Battlestar Wiki!

Also, some of you have mentioned that you did not like the location of the search bar (or were unable to find it in fact!) in the main skin and we’re responding to that to. We’re currently working on redesigning the left sidebar as well, so drop on in and give us a few suggestions if you’d like!

Sorry for the (short) downtime folks, Shane was doing some configuring of the Apache server log system and something happened to cause the downtime.

Battlestar Forum, Battlestar Pegasus and Battlestar Wiki are back up. Some of the other sites on the Frak Media! network are still down, like Wiki Frakr and Sanctuary Wiki are still down, while behind the scenes tweaking is being done.

Direct any questions to joe.beaudoin@gmail.com. Thank you.
