So it appears we’ve hit our 2,500 article mark.

Yeah, it’s an interesting story… Suffice it to say we condensed a lot of the mentioned-only pilots in the Re-imagined Series into the List of pilots article.

So anyway, we’ve hit our 2,500 article mark again. Which is a beautiful thing.

This time, the 2500th article was on Encyclopedia Galactica, a 1979 publication that covered the Original Series. If you want to read it, has the PDF version here.

Runner up is an article on Seamus Kevin Fahey, writer for the not-yet aired episode, “Faith”.

Thanks to those who have tested out the new Battlestar skin, we know of at least two issues that are IE 6.0 related. Essentially, they can be seen here: the twice-repeated header image and the off-to-the-side rotating character image.

Otherwise, the skin is known to work in Firefox 2.x and Safari. We’re looking for Opera and IE 7 testers, so if you want to try out the skin, simply follow the instructions that Shane laid out here.

Feel free to leave feedback either as a response to this post or on this wiki talk page.

Update  (26 September): The skin has been tested out on IE 7, and the only issue that’s been discovered is that the rotating character image is not properly aligned. The issue is being addressed.

That’s right folks. Following our huge design success over at the Eureka Wiki, we dedicated to give the Battlestar Wiki the same face lift. The skin is currently active under all languages, but is not the default yet. What do we need from you? Feedback! You can post your feedback here, on the wiki itself, or the Battlestar Forum. Little changes are still being worked on and the features from the Eureka Wiki with rotating character images has yet to be completed.

To try it out, click on “My Preferences” –> Goto “Skin” Tab –> Select “Battlestar” –> Hit “Save”.

For those of you who browse the wiki, you can view the new design with a preview of the “Main Page” by clicking here. I also like to point out that the “BsgBook” and “BsgMonoBook” will still be a skin to choose from for those who like the more fluid look.

Updated! Here are some screenshots I took of the Main Page and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica portal.

This is just a brief note that MediaWiki has released the first Release Candidate for version 1.11. As such, we considered upgrading, but have held off since the fixes we are looking for are not a part of the current release candidate, and the changes from 1.10 to the current 1.11rc1 are too minuscule to consider undergoing an update at the present time.

Shane and I have discussed changing the titles of administrators and bureaucrats to something more in-line with the Galactica universe.

We’ve started a proposal for that here.

The current proposal lists that the titles of administrator and bureaucrat would be changed to “deckhand” and “chief”.

Please register your opinion or any alternate suggestions here.

So say we all! :-)

Thanks to the work of User:Catrope, he’s managed to modify my own work into an extension so that it can be used on any MediaWiki-run site. In all honesty, it’s quite better than the hodgepodge of code I threw together.

The extension is here.

For technical support, Catrope will be able to help you, as he is lead developer for that extension!

So code we all!
