In the vein of trying new things, Mercifull has set up an extension for MediaWiki that plays flash-based videos. Using our “hangar bay” experimental wiki, he’s produced the following awesome results:

Right now, the test is in beta, so it won’t be implemented in the main wiki right away. However, the great thing about this also is that, using our existing Ad Brite service, we’ll be able to become better financially self-sufficient via our forthcoming video content.

With the confirmation announcement of Season 4, we are going ahead and renting another server exclusively for the database needs of the Wiki.

The cost for the server is $119 per month and should be online within a few days.
